It is hard to get together with your sewing buddies while maintaining safe social distancing measures. However, you still can get together virtually! If you are looking for a low-cost idea that each of your sewing friends can do together (virtually), try this party idea:
Supplies: each guest will need one solid charm pack, one patterned charm pack, and a Moda cupcake mix. These can be ordered online from many of your favorite quilt shops.
Activity: Pick a date to get together virtually via Zoom or any of the many others virtual meeting tools. Make sure that everyone has their supplies ahead of time, sewing machine, cutting board, ruler, rotary cutter, thread and anything else they typically use to sew. Once you are together virtually take a look at the Moda cupcake mix instructions. Challenge each other to come up with your own design using the variety of ways you can sew the blocks together. Then start sewing some of the templates. These can take awhile to sew and cut apart and then sew into blocks, but that’s okay, it gives you an excuse to come pack together.
