Mini Quilt Project using the Itty Bitty Twister

Mini Quilt Project using the Itty Bitty Twister

If you have a few mini-charm packs on hand and are wondering what to do with them, this project is for you! The Itty Bitty Twister tool by Twister Sisters, takes simple little squares and turns them into complex looking pinwheels.

The tool comes with instructions and a pattern on how to make a small 8 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ quilt. Or you can use the tool to make your own project. The process starts with lining up the squares in the order that you would like them to be sewn. Sew the squares and then rows together and add a border if desired. The example used 42 mini charm squares and a border that was 1 1/2″ thick on all sides.

Once the squares are all sewn together you will then cut the piece apart using the tool. The markings on the tool align with the seam lines of your project. It is helpful to use a 28mm rotary cutter. As you cut the squares, carefully lay out your new squares following the original order you chose. Then sew each row of squares together. Finished squares measure 1″ x 1″ when all sewn.

Fabric used in this example are from the Shine On collection from Moda. Mini-charm squares are available in our shop while supplies last.
